On February 20, the team traveled to Houghton, Michigan to compete in the Winter Baja Invitational. The event consisted of some 15 teams, 40 cars and four hours of endurance racing on an ice and snow track in the town of Lake Linden. State Baja racing made quite a showing, bringing four cars along with 15 members with two cars making it the entire race. The 2009 vehicle, "Willy," finished 14th despite a driveshaft issue that left the four-wheel-drive inoperative. One of our oldest cars, "Turtle", finished in 6th place, just a handful of laps behind the winner. Keep an eye out for updates as we near completion of the 2010 vehicle and begin the SAE competition series!

New Season Underway
With the beginning of the new school year comes the start of the 2010 season for Michigan State Baja SAE. The team has been hard at work recruiting new members, contacting sponsors, and designing the new 2010 vehicle. This past weekend, the team invited prospective recruits out to the test track for an opportunity to test-drive Baja cars from years previous. Rookie Drive Day was a great success with all three cars running the entire time, giving everyone plenty of time behind the wheel. Also, for the fist time, the team will be traveling to Charlestown, Indiana for Midnight Mayhem hosted by the University of Louisville. The open event consists of a four-hour endurance race at Poduim1 motocross track and will provide an opportunity for team members to get experience driving in a race setting. After the Midnight Mayhem event, the team will get back in the normal shop routine getting cars ready for the Sponsor/Alumni Drive Day and fabricating a chassis for the new car.
